Scholarship Recipients
Jordan Gray During her 4 years at Governor
Livingston High School, Jordan Gray was an accomplished athlete and
a county champion in track who holds the school records in the 400
and 800 meter run. During the summer months, Jordan devoted her time
at Frost Valley working to create a mainstream environment for
children with disabilities. In her junior year, Jordan joined the
faculty of the Rabbi William and Dena Horn Religious School in
Summit as an assistant teacher and advocate of special needs
children in the Kindergarten and 1st grade classes. Her performance,
love and dedication working with Down Syndrome Children has earned
Jordan the 2008 Amber Pizzo Memorial Scholarship being presented
here by Damian Pizzo. Michael Mirabella2007 Scholarship Recipient
Governor Livingston graduate Michael
Mirabella is the 2007 recipient of the Amber Pizzo Memorial
Scholarship. Michael (right) is shown receiving the award from
Berkeley Heights resident George Pizzo. The Amber Pizzo Memorial
Fund is dedicated to providing scholarships to Governor Livingston
High School graduates planning to major in early childhood education
or elementary education. The Fund has been organized in memory of
Amber Pizzo who lost her life on July 18, 2005 when she was struck
by an automobile driven by an impaired driver.
Lindsay S. Thomas2006 Scholarship Recipient
Insight, commitment,
sincerity - Lindsay Thomas exudes those traits in the classroom, on the
stage and on the athletic field. Because of her fantastic attitude toward
life, strong academic qualifications and leadership skills, it was truly an
honor to present Lindsay with the 2006 Amber Pizzo Memorial Scholarship
award. Lindsay will be attending Skidmore College in the fall. We wish her
the best. Thanks, Lindsay...it's easy to see why your parents are so proud
